How long does custom embroidery take?
Standard turnaround at Battle Born Clothing is 28 days from proof approval, plus ground shipping to your state. Quotes usually come back the same business day. Rush is quoted per job.
The timeline
| Step | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Quote | Usually same business day |
| Digitizing and proof | About 2 business days |
| Your approval | Depends on you |
| Production | Up to 28 days from approval |
| Ground shipping | 1-5 business days by region |
Plan backward from your date
- Start with the date you need the gear in hand.
- Subtract transit for your state (table below).
- Subtract 28 days for production.
- Subtract a few days for quote, proof and approval.
- That is the day to send your request.
Example: an event on a Saturday in Ohio. Ohio ground transit is about 5 business days. Back up a week for transit, 28 days for production and a few days for the proof. Send the request about five to six weeks ahead.
| Region | States | Typical transit |
|---|---|---|
| West Coast | Nevada, California, Oregon | 1-2 days |
| Near West | Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona | 2-3 days |
| Mountain | Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico | 3-4 days |
| Plains and Upper Midwest | Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri | 4-5 days |
| Midwest, South and East Coast | All other contiguous states | 5 days |
What speeds an order up
- Vector artwork in the first message
- A final size list with the quote request
- Quick proof approval
- Common blanks in stock at SanMar's Reno warehouse or S&S Activewear
What slows it down
- Low-resolution art that needs rebuilding
- Size changes after blanks are ordered
- Backordered colors
- Waiting on licensed-mark permission
Rush orders
If you need it sooner, say so on the quote form. We will check the schedule and quote a rush for your job. We do not publish a rush price because it depends on what is already on the machines.
Reorders
Reorders skip digitizing because we keep your file. They still follow the standard turnaround unless rush is quoted.
Sample timelines by destination
| Ship to | Production | Typical transit | Plan for about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nevada or California | 28 days | 1-2 business days | 30 days |
| Utah or Arizona | 28 days | 2-3 business days | 31 days |
| Colorado | 28 days | 3-4 business days | 32 days |
| Texas | 28 days | 4-5 business days | 33 days |
| Ohio, Georgia or New York | 28 days | 5 business days | 35 days |
These are typical figures for planning, not guarantees. Weather and carrier delays happen. If your date is fixed, build in a few days of cushion and tell us the date on the quote form.
Why 28 days
Battle Born Clothing runs two single-head embroidery machines. Every job gets digitizing, a proof, blanks ordered from SanMar or S&S Activewear, hooping and stitching one piece at a time, then trimming and a check before packing. A 28-day standard lets us schedule that honestly. When the schedule has room, rush is possible and quoted per job.
What counts as day one
The 28 days start when you approve the proof, not when you first ask for a quote. The quote, digitizing and proof usually take only a few business days, but the clock does not start until you say yes. The fastest way to save time is to approve the proof the day it arrives, with a final size list already sent.
Questions
Does the 28 days include shipping?
No. It is production time from proof approval. Add ground transit for your state.
Can you do a rush?
Often. Rush is quoted per job based on the schedule.
